7-year-old Girl Calls Out LEGO for Gender Stereotyping

Charlotte Benjamin wrote a letter to LEGO to blast them for their limited selection of toys for girls

If your child is this little girl, you have the next President on your hands.

Enter: Charlotte Benjamin, a seven-year-old girl who's had it with the toy brand and their affinity for gender boundaries, as proven by their limited selection of toys for girls. This, of course, coming up on the heels of the Lego movie, which is out this Friday.

"My name is Charlotte," began Charlotte's letter. "I am 7 years old and I love Legos but I don't like that there are more Lego boy people and barely any Lego girls."

"Today I went to the store and saw Legos in two sections: the pink (girls) and the blue (boys). All the girls did was sit at home, go to the beach, and shop, and they had no jobs but the boys went on adventures, worked, saved people, and had jobs, and even swam with sharks."

"I want you to make more Lego girl people and let them go on adventures and have fun OK!?! Thank you."

And AMEN, Charlotte. I guess we'll see whether or not Lego's willing to let girls go on adventures in the movie (which, like, how was that made?!), or through new and improved toys, less geared towards pink, purple, and sitting around.
